Vaginal Plastic Surgery - Labiaplasty (Labioplasty)

Labiaplasty (labioplasty) is the procedure that improves the size, shape and contour of the labia to be aesthetically pleasing to the patient. Labiaplasty can include both or either of the labia minora and labia majora.

For the labia minora, women can be concerned about the larger size, shape, contour, asymmetry, texture and color of the inner lips of the external genitalia. For the labia majora, the most common concerns are the size, either too bulky or too thin, shape and contour, asymmetry, texture, wrinkles and color of the outer lips of the external genitalia. It follows then that labiaplasty is a general term to include multiple procedures, either medical or surgical, to address each of the concerns described above.

Labiaplasty (Labioplasty): Labia Majora

  • Reduction procedure - reduction labiaplasty using micro-cannula liposuction contouring can be performed using just local anesthetic tumescent technique to reduce bulky labia majora. Excessive skin can be reduced by labia majora labioplasty technique.
  • Enhancement procedure - enhancement labioplasty. If the labia majora has become too thin or wrinkly, enhancement labiaplasty can be performed. The skin wrinkles or defects can be addressed simply by injecting dermal fillers. For a more permanent solution, small volume free fat graft transfer can be performed using the micro-cannula technique along with PRP (platelet rich plasma) to enhance the graft take, to enhance the volume of the labia majora and to reduce the wrinkled appearance.

Labiaplasty (Labioplasty): Clitoral Hood

  • Occasionally the hood over the clitoris (or Prepuce) can be redundant and that can be reduced at the same setting as the reduction labiaplasty of the labia minora.

Mons Pubis Reduction

  • Mons pubis is the area over the pubic bone above the clitoris. Some women have large fat deposits in that area where the bottom of the abdomen meets the pubic area. The bulky mons can be aesthetically problematic but can be easily addressed by liposuction contouring under local anesthesia tumescent technique. While this is not part of labioplasty, it can certainly be performed at the same setting as the labioplasty.
