Minimally Invasive Surgery - Hysteroscopy
A hysteroscope is a small telescope that can be inserted into the uterine cavity through the vagina and cervix. Using the hysteroscope, pathology in the uterine cavity, such as polyps, fibroid tumors, adhesions, and cancer can be seen and identified. Specialized instruments which are passed through the hysteroscope allow the surgeon to take biopsies directly and resect fibroids and polyps.
This is a major improvement in terms of the effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment compared to the “blind” dilation and curettage (D&C).
Dr. Lau is a recognized expert in hysteroscopic surgery, including the resection of fibroid tumors, using a minimally invasive approach.
